UnFound Accelerator – your route to an ethical digital business

Co-operatives UK – supported by The Co-operative Bank – is proud to reveal the teams joining the 2023 UnFound Accelerator, which is now under way.

Four teams have been selected to join the 2023 Unfound Accelerator programme, which aims to launch another new wave of fairer, ethical and co‑operatively owned tech platforms.

Led by industry experts, the 10-week programme will support the teams to develop their platform business to work co‑operatively. They’ll also be supported to develop their product, branding, marketing, business planning and strategy.

The Unfound Accelerator is delivered by Co‑operatives UK and supported by The Co‑operative Bank. Ludovica Rogers, UnFound Programme Manager at Co‑operatives UK, said:

Once more, we’re working with a range of inspiring ideas, this year, with a predominant focus on environmental aims. We’re excited to be supporting the teams to develop digital platforms that are controlled and owned by those who need and use them most.

Meet the UnFound Accelerator teams

Here are the teams taking part in this year’s programme. If you have any questions for the teams, please email [email protected].

  • Deep Time empowers citizens to map archaeological sites and ecologies from satellite and LiDAR data so that the data can be used in the context of net zero and climate change.
  • Grassroots City is a platform focused on rebuilding healthy communities of people and nature. Through facilitating opportunities for green social prescribing, the platform aims to support and scale grassroots initiatives working to improve green and blue spaces, increase biodiversity, and enhance nature-connectedness in the city.
  • The Flower Grower Collective is a purchasing platform for wholesale cut flower and foliage sales, allowing small scale artisan growers to work together to access a wider market.
  • The Impact Collective platform supports sustainable place-based initiatives in remote communities, by connecting community members to relevant resources and people.

Live pitch event in July

This year’s programme will also work towards a live online pitch event, offering teams the chance to win part of the £10,000 prize funded by The Co‑operative Bank. Teams will also access expert support and funding opportunities as they prepare to launch their emerging platform businesses.

The pitch event will take place on Tuesday 11 July at 6-7pm. Sign up here to join the event and vote for your favourite idea! If you’re interested in learning more about platform co‑ops and future opportunities sign up to the UnFound newsletter here.
