Co‑op Fortnight 2026: Co‑operate and we can change the world

This year, the theme for Co‑op Fortnight is Co‑operate and we can change the world. Co‑op Fortnight 2026 takes place from Monday 22 June to Sunday 5 July. 

Co‑operate and we can change the world

The campaign slogan is taken from This Beautiful Idea, a poem written and performed by Tony Walsh, originally commissioned by Rochdale Literature and Ideas Festival. 

We think it’s an inspiring way to describe what it means to be a co‑operative, and what it means to be a member of a co‑operative. We can’t wait to share a specially adapted version of the poem for Co‑op Fortnight.

Get involved with Co‑op Fortnight

Throughout the Fortnight, we’ll be encouraging our members and the wider co‑operative movement to share why they’re proud to be a co‑op, for example:

• The ways co‑operatives support and strengthen their communities
• How they improve the lives of members, employees, customers or clients
• Examples of how co‑operative principles are creating fairer, more empowering places to live and work

When sharing your stories on social media, be sure to use the hashtag #CoopFortnight, tag Co‑operatives UK in your posts and follow us on: Instagram | Facebook | LinkedIn | Bluesky | TikTok | X. 

We’ve also produced a suite of graphics you can use when posting online, with ‘empty belly’ versions that can be adapted with images of your co‑operative and the amazing work you do. 

As well as digital assets, we’ll be producing a video performing the co‑operative poem This Beautiful Idea for co‑operatives to share during Co‑op Fortnight.  

We’re also encouraging our members to share the induction film Co-operatives: Owned by our Members. We will also send details of International Coops Day on Saturday 4 July, organised by the International Cooperative Alliance.

Spotlighting our members

We will also be sharing posts spotlighting inspiring co‑ops throughout the fortnight. 

We’re seeking compelling content of any kind that can be used and/or edited to promote and celebrate the power of co‑operatives and difference they make. Interested in submitting content?

Join us at Co‑op Congress, 12-13 June

Tony Walsh will perform the poem exclusively at Co-op Congress on Friday 12 June, and then we will release a very special video and performance of the poem as part of Co-op Fortnight.
