A session to explore effective member engagement after a community share offer has completed.

About the training

The session will feature experiences of a selection of successful established societies, you'll hear from a community engagement specialist about practical approaches to maximising engagement.

The session will consider how to use a society's governance structure to increase member engagement. It will also explore membership strategies for societies that have:

  • Big membership numbers
  • Non-local members
  • Member churn

Participants are requested to send in their questions in advance for the Q&A.

  • This training course will take place online for 1.5 hours
  • A presentation will be delivered, followed by a Q&A session

About the trainers

Hannah Sloggett is co-founder of Nudge Community Builders, which has raised over £600,000 share capital. Hannah is passionate about making lasting change on the street and disrupting systems that hold communities back. She loves making things and bringing colour to the street. Hannah has volunteered in the community for over 10 years and previously worked for Plymouth City Council Planning Department. Her background in community engagement and regeneration has helped Nudge to breathe life and hope into a street that has missed out for too long.

Matthew Otridge has 6 years of experience of working with Grassroots Music Venues raising finance, including spearheading the Music Venue Trust "Own Our Venues" initiative which raised over £1m in Community Shares. Matt also led on the community share offer for The Exchange, Bristol's first community owned live music venue. 

Steffi Joy has 13+ years experience in cultivating genuine and committed support in the non-profit space. She specialises in helping radical change-makers establish, grow and nurture their communities without using any social media. She works with membership organisations, cooperatives, independent media outlets, and community spaces across the UK.
