Two Up Two Down

Two Up Two Down is the trading name of Homebaked Community Land Trust. We are a community-led organisation with a scalable, sustainable and creative approach to community ownership.

We are a growing group of people who live, work and regularly visit Anfield and Everton, who have been working together since 2012 (previously under the name Homebaked CLT). Our aim is to improve things for our community and make our neighbourhood somewhere we can all live well.

For us, that means a place with genuinely affordable, warm, healthy, secure, and environmentally friendly homes, good quality jobs, and welcoming spaces to come together, learn and celebrate, not just now, but for generations to come.

We believe that together, as local people, we shape and own our social, cultural and economic future. The way we work creates the conditions and opportunities to find community-led solutions to meet our neighbourhood’s needs and aspirations, through collaboration, creativity, adaptability, bravery and rebuilding pride in place, despite decades of top-down regeneration attempts and dispossession.

Our story begins in 2010 when, in response to this dispossession, artist Jeanne van Heeswijk asked how the people of Anfield could take the development of their neighbourhood into their own hands. Homes had been bulldozed and our community scattered, without any meaningful input from people who live locally. Things had to change.
