Rocklands Social Club
The club was founded in 1954 and was originally known as the United Services Club, then situated on what is now known as Headless Cross Community Orchard.
The United Services Club was formed shortly after the war as a social club for returning service personnel. Having outgrown its original site an offer was made by a local factory owner to move to this location, in what was originally his own private residence. The premises were gifted to the United Services with one proviso: that the club’s name be changed to the Rooklands, after the name of the house. During the writing of the deeds, a typing error renamed us the Rocklands, and after the signing of the deeds the name could never be changed in the future.
The club has been extended and improved over the years to what you see today; remaining a social hub for members and the local community.
