Reading Hydro CBS

Berkshire Energy Pioneers are continuing the successful work of Reading Energy Pioneers who first formed in 2009 as a neighbourhood group. We reformed as BEP in 2015 as a Community Benefit Society helping community organisations to install solar PV onto their buildings.

The aim is to facilitate domestic solar PV installations and proactively helping individuals to buy systems at group discounted rates. From 2009 to 2011 this resulted in 40 domestic installations across Reading producing a maximum output of 130kW.

BEP is funded by a Urban Community Energy Fund (DECC) grant. We are also backed by both Reading and Wokingham Borough Councils as we help them achieve their renewable energy targets.
