Orkney Auction Mart was formed in 1993 on the amalgamation of Kirkwall Auction Mart and West Mainland Mart. In 1996 the business opened a purpose built facility on the outskirts of Kirkwall.

Orkney Auction Mart has approximately 1,300 members and sells around 18,000 cattle and 63,000 sheep each year.
