Ollardale

The forum was established ahead of schedule in March 1999 with the aim of bringing together individual farming units into one open, democratic and vibrant self-help group. To date the group has identified and grasped opportunities to improve the economic well being of the agricultural sector in the Newtownabbey area. Two major projects implemented have been, the soil sampling scheme (to improve farm management) and the launch of a farming co-operative Ollardale. It is hoped that the co-operative will provide the group with added weight with group purchases and a stronger voice in agricultural issues.
