Luna Houseboat Co-operative

Members are current licensees/residents of Luna, a large houseboat permanently moored on Deptford Creek.
Our vision is to provide our members with secure, long-term, affordable housing on Luna, within an established boating community.
Taking Luna into community ownership protects the area's residential status and maintains a social hub for the community.
The wider community on Deptford Creek have established a co-operative (Crossbones Cooperative) which has been granted a 99 year lease to the moorings from the Port of London Authority.
Luna aims to be part of a network of co-operatives which will protect the residential rights of those living on the Creek both now and in the future. Luna will continue to act as an entry point into the popular London boating community, where a diversity of individuals can learn the skills to live-aboard and gain access to marine trades.
We are committed to ensuring that Luna remains a place where people can be introduced to a boating lifestyle without inherited resources and privilege.
Luna Housing Cooperative will purchase the boat from their current landlord, creating a fairer ownership model, and ensuring that Luna remains residential property going forward.
Luna Houseboat Co-operative members will also be part of Crossbones Co-Operative; this will create solidarity within the wider community.
Finally, we will build and maintain our relationships with the existing London boating community, through links to local trades people and marinas.
