Utilities Description:
The 8-turbine Kirk Hill wind farm is located near Kirkoswald in South Ayrshire. Planning permission was given in October 2020 following consultation and assessment.
The area has a rich literary connection, being the setting for Robert Burns' poem, Tam O'Shanter. Views are available to the distinctive Ailsa Craig, which produces the stone for many curling rocks.
Made up of 8 turbines in windy west Scotland, Kirk Hill has the potential to power over 20,000 households and businesses with the cheapest and greenest electricity. It's now operational and has over 5,500 co-op members as majority shareholders.
