The Holywell Community Pub

Following the Holywell Inn's closure in January 2012, the owner applied for planning permission to convert the pub into six dwellings. An action group of local residents was formed, who fought the application and successfully prevented it from being passed.

On the back of this success, the Holywell Inn Action Group, applied for, and had the pub successfully listed as an Asset of Community Value in March 2012, providing a period of time to plan how the pub could be purchased. Since then, the group has been incorporated as The Holywell Community Pub Ltd, an Industrial and Provident Society (IPS), to be used as the vehicle for raising funds for purchasing the pub.
