Heart of Lapford Development (HOLD)

Lapford is an historic village in the rural heart of Devon, roughly half way between the north and south coasts and Dartmoor and Exmoor. Planning permission was granted for 8 modern houses on a derelict farmyard in the centre of the village, next to the Village Hall and the Grade 1 listed Parish Church and partly within the Conservation Area. A Community Benefit Society was created to acquire the site and make it available for community use, whilst preserving the setting of the church and retaining the opportunity for extending the Hall.

That objective has been achieved, and the village now benefits from two-thirds of an acre of open green space alongside the Hall for recreation and events. The future uses of the space await community consultation.
