Farmhouse Cheesemakers

The co-operative was formed in 1982 from the membership of the established Farmhouse Cheesemaker`s Federations. Its key objective was to create a greater presence in the dairy industry and a sense of unity amongst these small, yet successful farms making premium farmhouse cheese. Many felt the larger creameries could threaten their businesses, for they operated with the benefit of economies of scale. West Country Farmhouse Cheesemakers is an independent co-operative of dairy farmers who have grouped together to produce and promote the finest, authentic Farmhouse Cheddar.
