Description:

The Co-operative Party is the political arm of the co-operative movement, working to represent and defend the movement itself and bring wider co-operative principles to our economy and society. Our joint Labour & Co-operative MPs represent the party in Westminster and we are represented in the Scottish Parliament, Welsh Assembly and have hundreds of councillors across the country.

In partnership with co-operative societies and our Labour allies, we’ve led the way in protecting consumers and the environment and in championing fairtrade. Today, we’re working to make it easier to create and grow the next generation of community and worker-owned co-ops. We are making the case for a shared economy where workers are able to share in the ownership, decision-making and profits of Britain’s businesses. We’re championing the need for a community energy revolution. We’re arguing for greater political and legislative support for credit unions, rights for football fans, and fighting to provide strong legal foundations for a growing network of 800 co-op schools. Working together we can ensure that co-operative and mutual values are at the heart of politics.
