Report: The role of local and regional government in enabling co-operative development in the UK
Resource
A new report published by Co-operatives UK outlines the key roles that local governments – strategic authorities, city regions and councils – can play in the UK government’s commitment to double the size of the co‑operative and mutual sector.
This report examines what policy and practice have been effective in enabling co‑operative development, both in the UK and internationally, and how this learning and success can be applied locally in the UK.
This research was produced by Co‑operatives UK as part of the Reclaiming Our Regional Economies (RORE) programme, which is a five‑year programme developed by Co‑operatives UK, New Economics Foundation (NEF), the Centre for Local Economies (CLES), and the Centre for Thriving Places (CTP). RORE connects communities with political and institutional leaders to build economies where people and places can thrive.
RORE is funded by the National Lottery Community Fund, Power to Change, Friends Provident Foundation and Barrow Cadbury Trust.
