Webinar: Can co‑operatives fix social care?

About the webinar

This webinar will explore the findings and recommendations from our Social Care Co‑operatives in the UK report. The new research examines the advantages of social care co‑operatives and how they can be supported to start and grow in the face of structural challenges. Through primary research with care co‑operatives across the UK, the report highlights the role that social care co‑operatives can play in: 

• Enabling better quality, person‑centred care
• Increasing social value and contributing to the local economy through a locally rooted approach to care  
• Improving staff welfare, engagement and retention

The report’s recommendations outline a phased and coherent pathway for supporting co‑operative approaches to adult social care, aligned with national and local health and care priorities and oriented toward prevention, quality and fairness.

The report was commissioned by Co‑operatives UK and Cwmpas and produced by the Centre for Care, the Centre for Adult Social Care Research (CARE), and supported by IMPACT.

• This webinar will take place online for 1.5 hours
• There will be a presentation followed by an open discussion

The research and discussion will be particularly relevant to those working in policy and commissioning roles connected to social care in national and local government.
