The History of Crewe Co-op, Chesire
Event
To celebrate the International Year of Co-operatives, the Crewe Heritage Centre is combining the story of co-operatives with Co-op Group
On July 6 the Crewe Heritage centre is set to have a day talking to visitors about how Crewe is important to the co-operative movement.
Not only are they celebrating 180 years of co-operatives internationally, but the Co-op in Crewe was also established 180 years ago in April 1845; the second co-operative to form after Rochdale.
As the town celebrates Crewe Day the same weekend, July 4, it's perfect. The event is going to be included into the town's celebration itinerary.
There are planned talks on the history, modern-day co-operative local activity, and a talk on the International Year of Co-operatives. The event will take place at the Crew Heritage Centre, Vernon Way, Crewe, Cheshire CW1 2TB.
