About the Global Innovation Coop Summit
The Global Innovation Coop Summit (GICS) was launched in 2020 to provide a dynamic platform where cooperative leaders and partners can share experiences, exchange ideas, learn from one another, and collaborate in building a more inclusive and plural economy. The event brings together the cooperative and mutualist movements to spark innovation and open doors to inspire change and drive real solutions.
Following the success of our previous editions—online in 2020 and 2021, and in person in Paris (2022) and Montreal (2023)—the Global Innovation Coop Summit 2025 will take place in Portugal on October 27–28, 2025. Under the theme "Facing the Tipping Points: The Path of Cooperative Innovation for a Better World," this year’s summit will focus on the critical challenges our planet faces today and the decisive actions needed to address them.
As we celebrate the International Year of Cooperatives, GICS 2025 serves as a powerful call to action. Attendees will engage in three plenary sessions and twelve workshops, contributing to meaningful discussions and collaborating closely with cooperative partners to develop impactful content. Case studies and activity reports will be shared during the plenary sessions.
This year’s edition will have a truly global scope and will align strongly with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—at a moment when action is more urgent than ever.
