Join Outlandish and adviser Douglas Racionzer for a session to better understand the terms co-operatives and social enterprises - and how to access resources available.

This workshop is part of the Co-operative Islington project and funded by Islington Council.

There is an ongoing debate around the differences and similarities between social enterprises and co-operatives. This course will assist participants to understand these terms and to map the fields of practice in which co-operatives and social enterprises operate.

Participants will be introduced to tools and resources that will enable them to find and access resources within the cooperative and social enterprise fields of practice.

By the end of this course participants will:

  • Understand the similarities and differences between cooperatives and social enterprises
  • Be able to map the resources and networks within social enterprise and cooperative fields of practice
  • Have access to tools for their co-operative to mobilise the resources needed to flourish.

Douglas Racionzer, who will be facilitating the workshop, is a social entrepreneur with a personal imperative to engage communities to dream and flourish; organising with them and empowering their lives. He has years of experience working with economic development programmes and is currently working as a community development manager on Gillett Square in Hackney.
