This event is organised by the Calderdale Co-operative Association
The 150th anniversary of the founding of one of Britain's most successful early co-operative manufacturing businesses will be celebrated in July 2020 during a weekend of activities in Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire.
Events, themed around worker democracy, are being organised by Calderdale Co-operative Association, a federation of co-operatives trading in the borough of Calderdale and local supporters of co-operative business.
The programme of events includes a national conference on Saturday 4 July, the UN International Day of Co-operatives, entitled All Our Own Work: public ownership and worker democracy. The conference will explore and showcase ways in which businesses can be run in ways that give workers direct engagement and control in the workplace. Speakers will be announced later this year. Updates can be found on the Calderdale Co-op Association Facebook page.
The weekend of activities will also include a co-operative heritage walk, a Saturday evening concert and an exhibition on the story of the Hebden Bridge Fustian co-operative. For more information, contact [email protected].
