This event is organised by The Wales Co-op Centre
In this Co-ops Fortnight special, we will be exploring the role of co-operativism in the re-building of the Welsh economy.
The Wales Co-operative Centre invites you to the next Cross Party Group meeting for Co-operative and Mutuals (Wednesday 30th June 2020), which will be held virtually. In this meeting, chaired by Vikki Howells MS, we will be exploring how the Covid-19 crisis has impacted co-operatives across Wales, and how the spirit of co-operativism and community enterprise can be at the heart of our social and economic recovery.
Ken Skates MS, the Economy Minister, has said that he is determined that the Welsh Government will “build back better” from this crisis, creating a fairer, more equal and greener economy in Wales. We seek to contribute to this conversation by discussing how and where co-operatives can not just fit into this vision, but how co-operative values can underpin Welsh Government policy following this crisis.
This event will be an opportunity to:
- Learn about how co-operatives across Wales have been impacted by the Covid-19 crisis;
- Discuss how co-operative values have allowed enterprises across Wales to adapt to the difficult conditions we face;
- Hear from a range of experts from different fields on how alternative models of business ownership must play a fundamental part of the “build back better” initiative;
- Make contact with others interested in the role of co-operativism in the rebuilding of the Welsh economy.
We firmly believe that Wales has the skills and experience necessary to build a fairer and more equal economy. This event can be a starting point for an exchange of perspectives and ideas, learning from best practice both within and outside Wales.
The meeting will be recorded and made available to watch on our website and social media.
