Spain has a long history and experience transferring business to the employees. Over the last 30 years Spanish workers have been transferring enterprises to employees, due to both crisis and bankruptcies, and because of retirement of the owners.
As part of a new European Project, practitioners in the UK are invited to learn about the successes in Spain and explore how employee ownership models can be applied within the context of the UK worker co-operative movement.
The training session will be delivered by experts from the Spanish Confederation of Worker Co-operatives (COCETA) in conjunction with Co-operatives UK, who along with partners from Poland and Denmark have been working with Coceta to learn lessons from Spain and develop comparable models in their home countries.
The session will showcase successful models from across Europe as well as highlight how such approaches could be realised in the UK, both for companies in crisis and other businesses that have the potential and appetite to move towards a worker co-operative model.
Refreshments and catering will be provided.
