The Community Shares Unit at Co-operatives UK oversees best practice standards and gathers data on community share offers across the UK. We do this together with our partners across the four nations and their dedicated support programmes who provide on the ground advice, support and funding.

Dedicated support for community share offers in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland

Community Shares Scotland is funded by the Scottish Government and National Lottery Community Fund and delivered by the Development Trusts Association Scotland to promote the use of community shares in Scotland.

Their friendly staff team is on hand to provide free support and guidance to anybody interested to learn more about community shares.

Eligible groups can also receive up to six days of tailored consultancy to help develop a community share offer, and can apply for a Microgrant to support the marketing and promotion of a community share offer.

The Community Shares Wales Resilience Project is delivered by the Wales Co-operative Centre and seeks to upskill local communities and community champions to create sustainability and a legacy for Community Shares in Wales to thrive and grow.

The project delivers direct support and advice to groups looking for investment in community assets.

It also provides training to people to become accredited Community Shares Practitioners, so that more groups have access to support at a grass roots level in the future.

In addition, they are creating a network of Community Shares Champions to help raise awareness of this investment option.
