Empowering Places aims to build more resilient communities by supporting community businesses to provide benefits and opportunities for local people.  

Co-ops are found in all sectors of the economy – from high street retailers to community-owned pubs and from fan-owned football clubs to farmer-controlled businesses.

The purpose of this guidance is to support societies to use community shares to improve their solvency as part of their response and recovery to the current Covid-19 crisis.
