Grants of up to £100,000 are available for experienced community energy businesses through The Next Generation programme. But hurry - as the closing dates for expressions of interest is midnight on Sunday 13 January 2018.
Co-operatives UK is one of eight consortium partners delivering the programme, with funding from Power to Change, which will see grants of up to £100,000 awarded to 10 community energy businesses, alongside a support programme of research and analysis.
The Next Generation aims to support well established and experienced community energy businesses in England who want to develop innovative business models, building on their past achievements. Projects will need to be complete by June 2021.
"Co-operatives UK will be supporting groups to develop their community share offers, and from next year we'll be taking the lead in launching a peer mentoring element. We are delighted to be working alongside such experienced consortium partners to support community energy businesses." James de le Vingne, Head of Development Unit
The programme is being delivered by an expert consortium of organisations with extensive experience in the fields of low carbon energy, community development and finance and social impact.
The consortium includes the Centre for Sustainable Energy, Low Carbon Hub, Everoze Partners, Co-operatives UK, Community Shares Unit, Cooperative Futures, Social and Sustainable Capital, and SFW Communications.
