Co-operatives UK launches new HR package

Because people are at the heart of successful co-operative businesses, Co-operatives UK is delighted to be launching a new specialist HR package for its members. The package will enable co-operative businesses to benefit from a bundle of high quality HR services, from expert advice on employment law to cost saving on HR resources.

The HR package includes:

  • High quality advice, support and guidance in HR policy, law, reward and benefits
  • Joint procurement of other HR products and services, including access to XpertHR, providing high levels of cost-savings
  • A HR strategy group and forum, bringing together HR professionals to share innovations and best practice
  • Benchmarking and communicating the benefits of working for a co-operative

The new service is led by Tim Knowles, who has brought the support formerly provided by the Co-operative Employers Association into Co-operatives UK, covering co-operatives employing around 100,000 members of staff, a scale which produces both high-quality and high-value for subscribers.

Incorporating the service into Co-operatives UK will enable other businesses across the co-operative sector to benefit from this expert advice, resources and networking.

Tim Knowles, now Co-operatives UK’s head of HR services at Co-operatives UK, added:

Extending the offer through Co-operatives UK’s new HR package means that co-operative businesses of all kinds can access expert advice and save costs on essential HR services.”

The service is aimed at co-operatives with upwards of 10 employees. The cost is calculated based on the number of employees. Because of the sheer number of employees covered by the service, participating co-operatives will benefit from significant economies of scale.

Co-operatives that use the HR service already include Central England Co-operative, Chelmsford Star Co-operative Society, Clynderwen and Cardiganshire Farmers, The Co-operative Group, East Midlands Housing Group, East of England Co-operative Society, Lincolnshire Co-operative, The Midcounties Co-operative, The Phone Co-op, and The Southern Co-operative, among others.
