As a Government focused on growth, I am heartened to see some of the trends outlined in this Co-operatives UK report, including the 2.9% increase in memberships to mutual and co-operative businesses, as well as the 2.6% total increase in income. I look forward to working with the sector to support the co-operative and mutual economy to thrive."
– Tulip Siddiq, Economic Secretary to the Treasury and City Minister

How do we compile the report?

The Co-operative and Democratic Economy report is compiled by Co-operatives UK on behalf of the UK co-operative movement. The report analyses data from thousands of co-op businesses across the UK. In 2023, we broadened out the report for the first time to include mutuals. The 2024 tracks trends and also sets the baseline for the Labour Party's manifesto commitment to double the size of the co-operative and mutual economy.
