This paper is based on interviews we conducted in May 2011 with sixteen women involved in the co-operative movement, commissioned by Co-operatives UK as part of the Co-operative Women’s 2020 Challenge.
Co-operatives UK was commissioned by the Department for Business Innovation and Skills to explore options for the mutualisation of Post Office Ltd as suggested in the report ‘Securing the Post Office Network in the Digital Age’ and enabled by the Postal Services Bill.
The findings from the project have been used to inform our proposals and are summarised in this report.

The UK co-operative sector launched the Global Development Co-operative during the official UN launch of the International Year of Co-operatives on the 31 October. The initiative reinforces how co-operatives share to build a better world, demonstrating that co-operatives have a local impact on a global scale.
