The organisation is registered as an Industrial & Provident Society, and was formed in 1960 by farmers who were anxious to improve their input purchasing performance and to gain all the associated benefits of working together collectively. In addition to purchasing inputs, the organisation also is involved in central combinable crop marketing with the same end objective in terms of serving members' interests.
