Association of Scottish Hardwood Sawmillers Limited
ASHS was formed to facilitate the promotion of Scottish hardwood to the Scottish market. There is a need for an association such as ASHS, because the market structure for Scottish hardwood makes it difficult for individual suppliers, who are typically small rural businesses, to find the resources necessary to promote Scottish hardwood to the home market, which spans many economic sectors and includes people involved in construction, small manufacturing industry, as well as those who are buying items of furniture, flooring and other domestic goods. This collective proactive approach and coordination allows ASHS members to get on with practical task in hand of supplying Scottish timber.ASHS is a co-operative organisation, which also aims to help its members acquire new skills and refresh existing knowledge through its training events and programs.
