Agricultural Central Trading Ltd (ACT) of Cheham, Bucks., is the UK's only farmer owned national co-operative farm supply company. ACT was established in the early 1960's by a small group of farmers wanting to join forces in order to lower prices for their farm inputs. ACT provides a range of farming supplies that covers fertilizer, seeds, fuels and other chemicals, employs over 90 staff and last year had a turnover of GBP48 million (up from GBP41 million in 2002). ACT has a customer base of over 12,000 farmers.
