A new approach to financial regulation: building a stronger system
This consultation document provides further detail on the Coalition Government’s proposals for reforming the framework of financial regulation in the UK. For further information visit HM Treasury's website.
It builds on the Government’s earlier consultation A new approach to financial regulation: judgement, focus and stability published on 26 July 2010, and the summary of consultation responses published on 24 November 2010. You can view our response to this earlier consultation here.
This consultation has particular relevance to the co-operative sector and especially those incorporated under the industrial and provident society (IPS) legal form, as it proposes options for transfering regulation of IPSs away from their current 'home' in the Financial Services Authority, which is to be abolished.
We will be consulting closely with our members on this matter.
