Equity and excellence: liberating the NHS
The NHS White Paper, Equity and excellence: Liberating the NHS, set out the government's long-term vision for the future of the NHS. Co-operatives UK has submitted a response.
Broadly, we say that the White Paper’s objectives of putting patients at the heart of the NHS, focusing on improving those things that really matter and empowering and liberating staff are very much aligned with the values of the co-operative movement and we envisage co-operatives and mutuals playing a significant role in delivering the reformed service.
We make more detailed comments on the consultations on democratic legitimacy and commissioning for patients.
