Another successful National Retail Consumer Conference
Submitted by Paul Dale Smith on 1 March, 2011 - 10:47
Co-operatives UK held its National Retail Consumer Conference (NRCC) last weekend (25 - 27 February), where nearly 200 of our members involved in the retail industry came to network, share ideas and learn new ways of doing things.
Ed Mayo, Secretary General of Co-operatives UK, said:
"The National Retail Consumer Conference was an outstanding success. There was a real buzz, a real sense of community and many happy members. We'd like to thank all our speakers and members who made the weekend such a memorable event."
Initial feedback confirms that the event was a great success, with delegates enjoying presentations from the Co-operative Group CEO Peter Marks, "Inconvenience Stores" author and customer experience expert Mark Bradley, new International Co-operative Alliance Director General Charles Gould and a host of other co-operators and experts.
This year, the event returned to Stratford, where a debate was also held on the role of consumer co-operatives in supporting new community co-operatives in their local area. This gave delegates the chance to hear about the fantastic work that Lincolnshire Co-operative are doing in their community - from Ursula Lidbetter - and also the impact Co-operatives UK's strand of the Making Local Food Project has had.
You can read reports of what you missed from the Saturday and Sunday of the NRCC, and for those of you of a Twitterish bent, you can also see a time line of all the posts from the event on the new dash.coop website.
Presentations from the event are available to watch on the Co-operatives UK website, and the Co-operative News have published their photos from the event on their website.
Hopefully, we'll see you at next year's event.
