Want cash for your community? New affiliate deal with Local United

Are you involved in a community group and would like extra income whilst supporting a new co-operative?

Co-operatives UK member, Local United, a co-operative of existing and aspiring green social entrepreneurs, has teamed up with a number of leading ethical energy suppliers (Cooperative Energy , Good Energy, Ecotricity and Green Energy UK) to offer community groups an exciting new affiliate deal.

With five out of the "big six" energy suppliers announcing price rises in the past few months now is the right time to be considering a more ethical alternative. All of the suppliers that Local United partners with take pride in the fact that they don't have a confusing array of tariffs with short term deals but instead offer their customers consistently competitive rates with clear pricing structures.

By signing up members of your community group to one of the ethical suppliers you are eligible for cash for your community. Hook Norton in Oxfordshire, who piloted the affiliate scheme, raised more than £500 over the last year and expect to increase this to £1,000 during 2012 The International Year of Cooperatives.

Gabby Mallett, Secretary for Local United expresses the benefits of joining: "The great thing about this scheme is that really everyone is a winner.  Energy consumers can switch to an ethical supplier and won't need to worry about coming to the end of a cheap fixed rate and ending up on an extortionate tariff.  The community will benefit by getting a little income to feed into their projects."

For every individual that signs up within a community 70% of the annual affiliation reward will go straight to you, the local community. The remaining 30% will go towards Local United's continuing activities make this new sector thrive and grow.
