Doing Business the Co-operative Way
Submitted by john.atherton on 25 June, 2010 - 22:15
These session were all about getting small and medium co-operatives together, irrespective of the "type" of Co-operative.
As the Community Shops Network, took place at the same time, Peter Couchman of the Plunkett Foundation opened the event for both groups.
Brian Titley of Co-operatives SW acted as an anchor man for our particular set of sessions, which started with a funny and informative session by Jim Pettipher and Ed Russell about marketing our co-operative identity.
This was followed by a Business Networking session by Sion Whellen's and a session by Kate Whittle on dealing with conflict in a co-operative.
The afternoon session consisted of a "Question Time" with 4 experienced co-operators, answer questions and debating issues with the audience. This was followed by a number of open surgeries including: member participation, governance and director responsibilities, and use of Social Media.
The event was finished off by and introduction to the new Enterprise Hub in the South West and a Zebra Collective telling people about their experiences and the support they had received.
